Currently residing in Bergen, Norway, American bass-baritone Cam Michalak has found much success in the musical career field. Most recently, he has appeared as the bass soloist for Handel's Messiah with Orkesteret Fossegrimmen in Voss, Norway. He has also sung with several professional companies in the Houston area, including L'elisir d'amore with Opera in the Heights (hailed "perhaps the finest work from Opera in the Heights in seasons... it's out of this world" - Houston Press), Rigoletto with Opera in the Heights, Dido and Aeneas with Ars Lyrica Houston, and L'elisir d'amore (Dulcamara) with Operativo Houston. He also appeared as a soloist in Schubert's Mass in G with Webster Presbyterian Church.
Cam has also sung as a part of one of the top youth choirs in the world - the University of Houston Moores School of Music Concert Chorale, which was placed 3rd in the world on Interkultur's World Choir Rankings at the time. With UH Concert Chorale, Cam competed in the Grieg International Choir Festival in Bergen, Norway in June 2022, where they won first prize in the Mixed Choir category and third prize in the Sacred Music category.
Cam also has several years of experience as an educator in both the United States and Norway. As a choral conductor, singing teacher, and piano teacher, Cam strives to create a safe and fun environment for all to improve their skill level while exploring all of the joy that music has to offer.
Cam completed his Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance under Dr. Timothy Jones, with minors in Psychology and Marketing, at the University of Houston Moores School of Music in 2022.

VOICE LESSONS
In addition to my work as a performer, I teach private voice lessons based out of Bergen, Norway. I strive to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment when I teach. Singing is incredibly vulnerable, so my goal is always to provide safety and comfort in order to optimize the student's ability to grow as an artist. In taking lessons with me, you will get the chance to improve your singing technique through both anatomical and psychological principles.
In your lessons, you will learn about how the body produces singing, including your posture, how you breath, and how to control the voice to acheive vocal agility, good intonation, and explore all of the colors your voice has to offer. You will also learn to develop your abilities in musical interpretation and communication during voice lessons with me. In addition to ensuring the joy of singing, I will help you to elevate your technical and musical skills to a higher level.
